Agroforestry & Forest Conservation

Integrating indigenous trees with food crops to restore degraded lands, sequester carbon, and provide sustainable timber and non-timber forest products.

TAMCO's Agroforestry & Forest Conservation program trains farmers on tree nursery establishment and sustainable woodlot management, reducing pressure on natural forests while creating new income streams for rural communities.

By integrating trees into farming landscapes, TAMCO helps restore soil fertility, provide shade, and generate sustainable income through fruit trees and other forest products — all while protecting Tanzania's remaining natural forest cover.

Key activities:
• Training farmers on tree nursery establishment and management
• Sustainable woodlot management to reduce pressure on natural forests
• Planted more than 5,700 fruit and shading seedlings
• Community tree nursery establishment
• Empowering youth and women as environmental stewards
• Income generation through fruit trees and forest products

Through this program, TAMCO empowers communities to manage their landscapes sustainably while securing long-term livelihoods.

Key Activities
  • Native species propagation
  • Farmer-managed natural regeneration
  • Forest carbon projects (REDD+)
  • Beekeeping & forest products
